General Information
What is Nerdy Cooks?
Nerdy Cooks is an educational program that combines the joy of cooking with learning the science behind it. We offer classes, camps, and workshops for kids to explore in our test kitchen while learning and understanding scientific concepts.
Who are your instructors?
Our teachers are certified educators from campuses throughout the local area with a passion for teaching kids. They bring their expertise in education and their love for cooking to create a fun and engaging learning environment.
What age groups do you serve?
We cater to kids aged 6 to 15. Our programs are tailored to be age-appropriate, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for every child.
Class Information
What should my child bring to class?
Your child should wear comfortable clothing suitable for cooking, including closed-toe shoes. We provide all the necessary cooking materials and safety equipment. If there are any specific requirements, we will inform you in advance.
How long are the classes?
After-school enrichment classes typically run for 1-hour. Camp classes range from 3-hour half-day to 6-hour full-day, depending on the camp offerings.
What if my child has food allergies?
At NerdyCooks, your child's safety is our top priority! We proudly maintain a nut-free environment to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone. If your child has other dietary needs or specific food allergies, we encourage you to reach out to us before registering. Although we may not be able to accommodate all individual requirements, we’re happy to discuss how you can best provide for your child's needs.
Registration and Payment
How do I register for a class?
Registration can be completed online through our website. Simply navigate to the "Classes" section, select the desired session, and follow the prompts to register and pay. Some locations have site specific registration.What payment methods do you accept?
On our registration site, we accept major credit cards, and Apple Pay. Payment is required at the time of registration to secure your child's spot in the class.
Policies
What is your refund policy?
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel a class, our refund policy is as follows:More than 1 month before the class: A 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
At least 2 weeks before the class: A 50% tuition refund will be issued.
Within 2 weeks of the class: No refunds are available.
For any cancellations, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your options.
What happens if I need to cancel a class?
If you need to cancel a class, please refer to our refund policy above. Contact us to initiate the cancellation process.
Do you have a policy for late pick-ups?
Yes, we understand that sometimes delays happen. If you are running late for pick-up, please inform us immediately. We allow a 10-minute grace period after class ends. After this, a late fee of $10 for every additional 10 minutes will be charged to cover the cost of supervision.
Safety and Supervision
How do you ensure the safety of my child during class?
Safety is paramount at Nerdy Cooks. Our instructors are trained in first aid, and we maintain an appropriate student-to-instructor ratio to ensure attentive supervision. We also adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols in our kitchen.Can I stay and watch the class?
For the safety and focus of all participants, we generally do not allow parents to stay in the classroom. However, there may be times where we invite parents to join us for the last 10 minutes of the class for a tasting session and/or to see what their kids have created.
